Inside La Scala’s boxes, stories of Milan
Inside La Scala’s boxes, stories of Milan
The story is inspired by the evolution of the audience of the Teatro alla Scala, from its foundation until the postwar period, when the boxers were replaced by subscribers. It is a prestigious story that goes through all the transformations of Italian society in the last two centuries, confirming how much La Scala, with its elegant interiors and its illustrious inhabitants, has always been a point of reference, the center of culture and custom of our country.
We find, also thanks to an impeccable study activity that has seen the collaboration of the Teatro alla Scala with the Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory of Milan and the National Braidense Library, the history of the great Milanese families, from the Trivulzio, to the Litta, to the Belgiojoso, to the Visconti, whose stories are intertwined with those of patriots, such as Luigi Porro Lambertenghi, Federico Confalonieri and Silvio Pellico, as well as the great writers from Stendhal to Foscolo, from Parini to Manzoni.
