Dance, the art of the unspoken, needs no words. With a unique and timeless language it brings perfection, but also unfathomability, to the stage. This exhibition recounts the artists of the La Scala corps de ballet in a novel way, with photographs that investigate the sense of anticipation, of the complicity hidden in a pas de deux, in the relationship with masters and choreographers. These are images that speak of silences, relationships and feelings, evoking a sense of intimacy from which the audience is usually distant: the time of creation, but also the time of waiting before entering the stage or that of a stolen kiss behind the curtain. A silent witness, Gérard Uféras investigates the human experience through the daily life of the La Scala ballet company and takes the visitor into the “secret” rooms of the rehearsal room, the stage before the performance, and behind the scenes of the theater.
